Beautiful Blues at the Crane Lane

12 Jun

Thursday June 10th saw the first of what we hope will become a regular spot at the Crane Lane Theatre with Beautiful Blues featuring four Cork musical acts.

We are very happy to be able to podcast the whole of this wonderful evening of entertainment.  Here is the first, John Noonan who is joined by his partner Tina Pisco.

A surprise guest was Hawkeyed Son.

The next act was a new band – this was only their second gig ever – and their name is Annam.

In the last few weeks the committee of Cork FM has been properly constituted to continue the work of moving towards our next licence.

Here are the committee members:

  • Chairman  - Donal Quinlan
  • Vice-Chariman – Steven Broekhuizen
  • Treasurer – Moira O’Brien
  • Secretary – Aine de Barra
  • Station Manager – Ed Brennan
  • Publicity – Cian Corbett

The committee is currently meeting fortnightly and progress is being made towards:

  • Fundraising
  • Cork Volunteer Fair
  • Business Plan
  • Creating new Podcasts
  • Publicity for the Station

Keep an eye out here for further announcements for our fund-raising and podcasting activities.

As always, we are looking for volunteers to take on some of the ongoing work.  If you have an interest in community broadcasting we will be very pleased to hear from you.  The more volunteers we have, the less work that each volunteer will be asked to do.

We now have a Twitter account so please follow us there as well – search for CorkFM.

We are now podcasting!! Go to our podcasting page and check out the first programs to be listed there.

1st January 2010

Test Audio Streaming on Veetle.com
We have been testing audio streaming on www.veetle.com but so far we have not found it very satisfactory. We will continue testing in the hope that it will allow us to continue broadcasing when we are forced to go off air at the end of February

30th November 2009
We hope to be able to continue broadcasting on the Internet while we are off air. We will be applying to the broadcasting authority for a 100 day licence which is the final step before applying for a permanent licence. During this time off air we will be continuing with our fund raising which is even more important as our costs will rise significantly with the next licence.

7th November 2009

Cork’s new community radio station, Cork FM has been broadcasting since Saturday 7 November from 9am when the station was opened by The Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr. Dara Murphy

Our mission is to create a better sense of community for the Cork area and enliven its residents of all ages, genders and nationalities.

23rd October 2009
Cork Community Radio (Cork FM) was founded lovingly by fellow Corkonians, both native and new, with the intent of creating a community radio station that gives a voice to the community, its businesses, local organizations, charities and community programs.

Cork FM warmly thanks the Loftus Group for their kind sponsorship.
